Sylvia Lau is the Managing Director of the Greater China Value and Risk Advisory at JLL, where she leads a team of over 300 professionals across the region. Based in Hong Kong, she is responsible for formulating and implementing the team’s strategic plan, as well as overseeing the business across Greater China. She is also a key member of JLL’s Global Valuation Committee.

Since joining JLL in 2008, Sylvia has worked on numerous projects throughout Asia covering industries including agriculture, automotive, electronics, property development and the new economy etc. She has supported various blue-chip companies in their listing, financial reporting, acquisition, restructuring, financing and government-reporting related projects.

Over the years, Sylvia has led the team not only to actively help Chinese companies go global, but also to support multinational companies expand into the China market. Under her leadership, JLL is the market leader providing valuation service for HK IPO reference for more than 19 years, assisting many of the world's largest listing projects, including Agricultural Bank of China, Postal Savings Bank of China and China Unicom.

In recent years, Sylvia has been driving the digital transformation of the organization which impacted the industry. She has championed the development and integration of Proptech into their service offerings, significantly enhancing the capability, efficiency, and quality of their valuation and advisory services. Sylvia has taken a step further by leading the team in developing a digital valuation platform, contributing to the acceleration of automation in commercial real estate valuation.

Prior to joining JLL, Sylvia began her valuation career at Sallmanns in 1997. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from City University of Hong Kong, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) registered with the Washington State Board of Accountancy. In 2023, Sylvia pursued and completed a Master’s degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from King’s College London in her spare time.

Sylvia is a champion for diversity and inclusion, as well as female empowerment and co-founded JLL’s China D&I Committee as well as serve as its first chair.
